Following the success of Bisso and Saucony’s past sneaker collaborations, the duo returns with a new sneaker offering. Dubbed “Bondamanjak,” this vibrant new Shadow 5000 model draws inspiration from the richness of Caribbean culture — celebrating the heritage of the West Indies and the strength of Caribbean women.
Dressed in an explosion of eye-catching hues and patterns, the shoe derives aesthetic cues from its namesake — a type of Caribbean Habanero pepper known for its intense spice levels. The vibrant color palette represents the stages of the chili’s ripening process from green to deep red.
Crafted from premium materials, the upper boasts a mish-mash of suede, perforated suede, smooth leather as well as elements of Madras — a tartan-like fabric that is often worn during traditional celebrations in West Indies and Guyanese cultures. Custom details such as the embroidered SB (Selecta Bisso) logo, “Bondamanjak” inscription and a stylized chili pepper on the tongue label highlight the cultural inspiration. Additionally, the insole is decorated with a chili pepper print, while the teal blue lining pays tribute to the crystal-clear waters of Guadeloupe. All of this sits atop a colorful outsole that pays tribute to the diverse landscapes of the Antilles.
The sneakers are packaged inside a special box featuring a wood-effect finish with a colorful cover depicting Bondamanjak chili peppers. Each pair of Saucony Shadow 5000 x Bisso “Bondamanjak” sneakers also comes with two sets of laces in teal blue and red.
