Update: It’s been less than a week since Kyrie Irving debuted his second signature shoe with ANTA — stepping out in the ANTA KAI 2 at NBA All-Star Weekend — and it’s already set to drop before the month’s end. This “Artist on Court” colorway serves as the debut look and is a sequel to the “Artist on Court” pair that introduced the KAI 1 last year. The KAI 2 serves as Irving’s newest canvas as he embraces his own individuality with unique designs. “The KAI 2 is a culmination of everything I’ve envisioned … it’s about bringing the art of footwear to life in a way that’s never been done before,” shares Irving.
The model comes equipped with a reimagined version of the ANTA logo at the lateral while also featuring new heel embroidery that reinterprets “KAI.” Its speckled midsole detail is a nod to oil paintings while the textured velvet laces offer not only a distinct look, but a dual-lace system for customized lockdown. Looking closer at the heel, its “GATE” design serves as a “a gateway to one’s inner power.” Elsewhere, technical specifications include a NitronEdge insole that sports a graphic inspired by ancient Egyptian architecture, a sawtooth TPU structure for flexibility and hollow outsole structure for enhanced agility.
