Herman Miller has launched the refreshed Nelson Basic Cabinet Series, a modular storage system originally released in 1946 by designer George Nelson. The updated series features minimalist mid-century staples with new options such as solid wood legs – standard or tapered -  and a variety of pull choices, including pawn, wavy, or cupcake designs. The collection comprises six styles: the Basic Bedside Table, Basic Cabinet, Basic Cabinet with Door, Basic Console, Basic Credenza and the Basic Media Unit. Constructed from MDF with walnut or white oak veneers, the series combines simplicity with expert craftsmanship.

The Nelson Basic Bedside Table offers both open shelves and a drawer, making it a compact and adaptable complement to modern bedrooms. Available in oak or walnut veneer, the bedside table includes a choice of pulls and legs, allowing for customization to suit individual preferences. This re-issued piece exemplifies George Nelson’s iconic design, providing a minimalist storage solution tailored to evolving spaces.

The Nelson Basic Credenza is designed to bring harmony to dining rooms, home offices, and other areas with its ample storage capacity. Featuring two hinged doors, four drawers and interior storage shelves, the Credenza is a versatile unit that organizes big and small objects, embodying Nelson’s original design philosophy while adapting to contemporary needs.

For modern entertainment systems, the Nelson Basic Media Unit serves as a sleek and customizable storage solution. With interior storage shelves, four drawers and discreet cord escapes for electronics, the Media Unit combines functionality with aesthetic appeal.

The Nelson Basic Console provides both discreet storage and decorative display options with its thoughtful arrangement of shelves, drawers, and doors. Designed with two hinged doors, an interior shelf, and three drawers, the console is available in oak or walnut veneer and includes a choice of pulls and legs. This adaptable design enhances the beauty and utility of any home, reflecting George Nelson’s commitment to timeless and functional furniture.

Prices range from $895 – $4,325 USD, the new Nelson Basic Cabinet Series is now available at Herman Miller’s online shop.
