Kia Unveils the PV5 Ahead of 2025 Kia EV Day
Marking the first entry in its new “Platform Beyond Vehicle” (PBV) strategy.
Kia has revealed the exterior design of its PV5 Passenger and Cargo models, marking the first entry in its new Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) strategy. The mid-sized PV5, initially teased at CES 2024, is designed with the aim of pushing the boundaries of space and mobility with a focus on customization and modularity.
The PV5 will be available in multiple configurations, including specialized conversion options set to be unveiled at 2025 Kia EV Day in Tarragona, Spain. The event will provide a deeper look into Kia’s PBV business strategy, with additional details on vehicle interiors and product offerings to be shared later in February.
Both the PV5 Passenger and PV5 Cargo models share a futuristic design, reflecting Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy. The Passenger model features a low beltline and expansive windows, improving visibility and enhancing its geometric profile. Black wheel arch claddings and rocker panels give it an SUV-like toughness, while signature lighting and sleek accents add to its modern aesthetic. The rear’s lift-up tailgate and chamfered D-pillar create a functional yet stylized finish.
The PV5 Cargo model, meanwhile, embraces a more boxy profile to maximize space efficiency. It includes twin side-opening rear doors for seamless loading and unloading, improving practicality for commercial use. Kia describes the PV5 Cargo as a departure from traditional light commercial vehicles, integrating modern design with enhanced usability.
The full PV5 lineup, including additional derivatives and conversion options, will debut at 2025 Kia EV Day on February 24, with an official product reveal set for February 27.
