Nike is officially concluding the two-year-long legacy of Devin Booker’s first signature sneaker, the Book 1, with an exclusive “What The” edition. Known for mashing up distinct themes and colorways, the “What The” motif – a Nike staple dating back to its 2007 SB line – serves as the perfect comprehensive final chapter for the nearly 30 previous Book 1 releases and player exclusive colorways.
True to the previous “What The” releases, the left and right shoes of the releasing Book 1 are playfully mismatched. The left shoe incorporates a patchwork of details, including “Air Safari” mudguards, “Chevrolet“-inspired golden suede, “Sedona” graphics, and reptile textures, along with laces and lettering on the heels that nod to the “1995 All-Star” and “Moss Point” pair. The right shoe counters with elements, such as denim panels from “Blue Blood” and map prints from “Flagstaff.” Other details like “Desert Camo” tongues, rainbow collars and snakeskin overlays are found on the right foot as well. Finally, the design is completed with a gradient outsole, transitioning from orange to yellow, a direct tribute to the “Sunset” colorway.
Notably, the release of Nike Book 1 “What The” is limited to just 1,996 pairs worldwide, paying homage to Devin Booker’s birth year. Every pair is distinguished by a memorable 1 of 1996 heel tag, making it a must-have piece for collectors and marking the official closure of the Book 1 era.
