DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has officially announced that the first Supergirl teaser trailer is set to drop later this week. The announcement included a brief 10-second snippet that previewed the upcoming footage.
In the 10-second clip posted by Gunn, Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock), is seen patiently waiting for a spaceship to land near her. This has led fans to speculate about Supergirl’s destination and the related plot points of her solo film.
Supergirl first appeared in the New DC Universe franchise’s 2025 Superman movie, starring David Corenswet. Her debut was a cameo at the film’s conclusion, where she arrived seemingly drunk at the Fortress of Solitude to retrieve her dog, Krypto, who is confirmed to be featured in her upcoming solo movie.
The Supergirl film, scheduled for release on June 26, 2026, will be based on Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s popular comic series, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. This adaptation is expected to offer a rougher portrayal of Krypton’s last daughter. The official teaser of the film will be released later this week.
