21 Savage has surprised fans with the sudden announcement of his latest album, What Happened to the Streets?, which is set to drop later this week on December 12.

The unexpected news arrived on December 8 via a black-and-white trailer posted by 21 himself on Instagram. The cinematic teaser carries a suspenseful tone with an orchestral soundtrack. It depicts a figure walking down a dark alley who becomes the apparent target of snipers. This is followed by a quick montage of the target’s life before the album title and release date appear. According to Spotify, the album consists of 14 new songs, none of which were released as singles beforehand, maintaining the surprise nature of the announcement. Notably, 21 Savage has kept relatively quiet throughout 2025, with his sole major appearance being a feature on Summer Walker’s track “Get Yo Boy” in November.

This latest release follows 21 Savage’s last successful album, American Dream, which topped the Billboard 200 in January 2024, earning 133,000 total album-equivalent units. That project marked his fourth time reaching the chart summit and added 14 entries to the Billboard Hot 100.

What Happened to the Streets? drops on December 12. Check out the trailer below.
