London-based label HOUSE OF ERRORS has unveiled “VITESSE,” a FW25 collection that blends Surrealist art themes with sports-inspired graphics. Architect-turned-designer Fully’s label uses the French word for “speed” to evoke “pure, unadulterated velocity in whatever form it may reside.”
With roomy trousers, oversized tees, cropped outerwear silhouettes, and sweaters galore, “VITESSE” uses simulating visual details to convey the collection’s essence. Speed is represented by intarsia scenes of team sports, including a green collared sweater depicting a tennis match, and another sweater showing cyclists in formation. Embroidered figures in motion pop out, while their long shadows are reminiscent of Giorgio de Chirico‘s surreal landscape paintings.
Art history references don’t stop there. A red sweatshirt features patches depicting famous works, such as Warhol‘s soup cans, Edo artist Hokusai‘s Great Wave, and Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring.” And in trousers, an apparent reference to Dali‘s melting clocks comes in selvedge denim with a leather patch that appears to melt into the back pocket.
Stripes are used in various forms, from shaggy sweaters with cool-toned awning stripes to “peeping” tees with pencil stripes. Another major motif is the HOUSE OF ERRORS’ all-seeing eye icon, shown in a mosaic reinterpretation on t-shirts and hoodies. The collection is topped off with a range of headwear styles, including shaggy beanies and a HOUSE OF ERRORS crest trucker cap.
