Crunchyroll, in partnership with the NBA has launched a second major fashion collection that fuses the world of the beloved anime My Hero Academia with iconic NBA teams. This expansive new drop builds on the success of their first collaboration, bringing a unique mix of streetwear and apparel that celebrates both superhero teamwork and basketball fandom.
The collection features the anime’s main cast of heroes and villains paired with seven NBA franchises in a custom design. Leading the charge are fan favorites including Izuku Midoriya (Boston Celtics), Katsuki Bakugo (New York Knicks), Shoto Todoroki (Philadelphia 76ers) and Mirko (Los Angeles Lakers). Others include Ochaco Uraraka for Miami Heat, Eijiro Kirishima for Chicago Bulls and Endeavor with the Golden State Warriors.
Anna Songco Adamian, VP of Global Consumer Products, noted that the themes of the anime—”friendship against all odds to working with a team to overcome any challenge”—make it a perfect match for the NBA. NBALAB CEO Eric Perugini added that the collaboration is designed to surprise fans by blending the heroic spirit of the NBA with the dynamic world of My Hero Academia.
The apparel, which includes t-shirts and hoodies, will be available at BoxLunch, select NBA Stores, and online later this month. New York City-based fans are also encouraged to shop the collection at the NBA flagship store on Fifth Avenue during New York Comic Con. This collection is a dual celebration of pop culture, creating gear that is as dynamic and heroic as the fans who wear it. Look out for the collaboration releasing online starting on October 9.
