Hypebeast Celebrates 20 Years of Streetwear
Presenting a commemorative 20-year exhibition in the heart of New York City, complete with collaborations from some of our core cultural figures: Supreme, fragment, and UNDERCOVER included.
For 20 years now, Hypebeast has driven culture forward, swerving between global subcultures and commenting on the ever-changing cultural climate to actively shape the contemporary zeitgeist. Through every social media post, immersive in-person activation, apparel drop, product collaboration, and written story, Hypebeast, as a platform, has not only made a resolute stamp on global fashion culture but has built a growing, global community of consistently culturally tapped-in readers – otherwise known as Hypebeasts.
As our ether only expands in scope, the past two decades have been busy, with more milestones and tentpole moments to count. To celebrate the occasion, we’re doing something we don’t do often: slowing down.
We’re taking a beat to reflect on the past two decades and look to the future, celebrating the evolution of streetwear and paying homage to the defining brands, products, people, and cultural shifts that have gone down since our founding in 2005.
Hypebeast is setting up shop on some of the very streets it calls home, opening the doors to a commemorative 20-year exhibition in the heart of Lower Manhattan, New York City. A hub of all things Hypebeast, the gallery exhibit will be home to 20 years of the brand’s ephemera, including retrospectives of past Hypebeast collaborations and print magazines – including the newest edition, Hypebeast Magazine Issue 36: The Platinum Issue.
The centerfold of the 20th Anniversary Exhibition, however, comes in the form of 20 new collab Hypebeast tees, each of which was created in direct collaboration with a key brand or designer that has molded our cultural vision.
Supreme, Brain Dead, fragment, ACRONYM, Takashi Murakami, Virgil Abloh Archive™, UNDERCOVER, and Kaws x Human Made are just a handful of the contributors on the loaded lineup of T-shirt collaborators.
Other labels to join the 20-for-20 t-shirt program include A BATHING APE®, AMBUSH®, Futura Laboratories, Hajime Sorayama, PEACEMINUSONE, POST ARCHIVE FACTION (PAF), PROLETA RE ART, and VERDY. Expect the full list to land soon.
Along with the 20 collaborative tees, the exhibit will also house new dual-minded collab garments and goods from our brand partners. Available exclusively on-site at the exhibition, Ray-Ban will be offering up 20 numbered glasses; Umbro is coming equipped with 20 limited-edition tracksuits.
Stone Island will also have its new Friendly Pressure prototype set up on display for early viewing, along with a first look at the Citizen Watch Spring 2026 range, and a one-of-one Michelob Ultra x Hypebeast collaboration.
Hypebeast’s 20th Anniversary exhibition opens to the public on October 23 at the below address. Stop by through October 26.
