Summary

  • Brain Dead and adidas released a new tennis collection, including a collaborative adidas Barricade 13 shoe and an athletic apparel capsule.
  • The collection features bold, Y2K-inspired designs, such as two unique versions of the Barricade 13 shoe and tennis wear with standout pieces like a tie-dyed polo and a special tennis bag.

From Venus Williams‘ custom Luar number to Naomi Osaka‘s bejeweled Labubu, and Lorenzo Musetti‘s luxe Bottega Veneta jacket, tennis’s on-court looks keep getting bolder. With its otherworldly aesthetic and ties with adidas, Brain Dead is striking the iron while it’s hot by further expanding its tennis gear. Today, the LA-based studio released its collaborative adidas Barricade 13 tennis shoe, along with a complementary in-line tennis capsule.

Arriving during the silhouette’s 25th anniversary, the Y2K-era tennis shoe is reimagined in two distinct variants, including the label’s signature suede and a pared-back textile upper enhanced with a reflective finish. The former is more of a statement, boasting burgundy suede with speckled electric blue hair and gray taping. The latter features the reflective knitted uppers with accents of brown in the lining and laces, as well as yellow eyelets and branding. Both variants are designed with a chrome arch detail, silver marbled stripes, and a translucent sole.

Brain Dead completes the tennis-themed release with a special capsule of apparel and accessories to join it. Two t-shirts in black and cream boast a breathable mesh construction, while the Equipment Short is made from durable nylon ripstop. Standing out is a tie-dyed Pique Polo and the duotone Bandana Hat patterned with subtle gingham. The label rounds out the collection with a green and blue colorway of a new tennis bag, boasting a special Brain Dead tennis racket logo.
