New Balance's 1906L "Rich Oak" is Covered in Cozy Suede
A warm departure from the mesh-forward variants that have surfaced in recent weeks.
While early images of the brown suede variant of the 1906L surfaced in 2024, the official release of the New Balance‘s 1906L “Rich Oak” is expected to arrive this January. The colorway is arguably the most traditional-looking variant in the family of 1906L hybrid loafers being rolled out by the Boston-based brand.
Unlike previous versions which have included mesh details, warm-toned brown suede covers the entire upper, from the overlays to the tongue. One of the few synthetic details is the signature heel counter, contrasting well with the hairy suede. The pair sits on a black rubber sole, embossed with the sleek lines found on its various counterparts.
The usual details include the “N-ergy” tag on the lateral midsoles, the 1906L graphic on the lateral uppers, and New Balance word marks at the back and the toe box.
Recent variants that have surfaced online have maintained the technical details and mesh construction found in the original 1906. New Balance’s signature chrome overlays have appeared in “Silver Metallic,” “Silver Metallic/Black,” and the “Silver Metallic/Navy/Dark Juniper,” which is slated for release on January 15.
In conjunction with “Rich Oak” a black suede colorway has also appeared, signaling that the brand will likely roll out more of these cozier loafer styles.
