Joel Seigle grew up in Elgin, Illinois, where his family’s local lumber yard instilled his deep connection to nature and craftsmanship. The Subwoofer Dining Table, also known as Table Bass, is a unique creation completed in 2024, seamlessly blending functionality and aesthetics. Constructed from solid ash, the piece features a neutral-colored table top, while the JBL 2226h driver is fitted within its single leg, finished with a custom iridescent red finish.

Recognizing the need for enhanced bass without sacrificing floor space, Seigle ingeniously transformed his dining table into a functional subwoofer. The Table Bass was conceptualized in response to  Seigle’s observation on the compromization of home systems within the limited spaces of modern city homes. “I’ve seen subs hidden in coffee tables and benches but I wanted to showcase the driver rather than hide it,“ he wrote on his Instagram.

Instead of hiding the subwoofer within coffee tables or benches, he opted to make the speaker an integral part of the design. This approach not only maintained the integrity of the audio experience but also provided an opportunity to replace a mass-produced dining table with a personalized and innovative piece.

The Table Bass exemplifies Seigle’s creative problem-solving and dedication to high-quality design. By merging form and function, he created a practical solution that enhances both the audio and visual aspects of his living space.
