Bitmo Lab’s GameBaby Case Outfits the iPhone With a D-Pad Controller
The case apparently doesn’t require Bluetooth or a cord.
Chinese technology company Bitmo Lab has designed a case that transforms the modern iPhone into a GameBoy, perfect for those nostalgic for the heydays of the Nintendo console.
Built for the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro Max, the case is called the GameBaby and doubles as both a modifier and a standard protective case. When not in use, the GameBaby attaches to the back of the iPhone to protect it in the event of a fall, serving the normal function of a phone case.
Come game time, however, the GameBaby is attached to the front where it covers the lower half of the screen with a D-pad controller. Users pair their phones with a free vintage game emulator to play retro titles using the controller.
The GameBaby doesn’t require a Bluetooth connection or any cords. It also doesn’t need to be charged. How exactly the case works isn’t totally clear. On its website, Bitmo Lab says the GameBaby is still under development and that the final design may vary.
Nonetheless, those interested can pre-order a GameBaby for $20 USD, with the first batch expected to ship in October.
