Before Raf Simons was a fashion designer, he originally trained in furniture design. Starting later this week, the prolific designer has placed a portion of his own personal furniture and design collection for sale via Piasa Auction.

Titled Design + Picasso Ceramics From the Collection of Raf Simons, the auction features a total of 131 lots, including an array of rare finds including vases painted by Pablo Picasso, Pol Chambost’s abstract ceramics and even Jens Jacob Bregnø sculptures. The collection is extensive and also includes rare selections from French designer Jean Royère who is known for his whimsical forms, Pierre Jeanneret-designed furniture, Swiss-French modernist architect Le Corbusier and works from Swedish furniture designer Axel Einar Hjorth.

Having spent most of the late 1980s as a furniture and design student in Belgium, he had spent decades collecting unique homeware and design pieces. In a statement, Simons said, “I am attracted to strong, singular creative makers and the objects that they have brought into the world. This auction represents a meaningful selection of my collection, and each piece has played a role in my life. I have lived with these wonderful works over the years, and I am happy to give them a chance for a new home.”

The Design + Picasso Ceramics From the Collection of Raf Simons auction begins on September 18 at 5 p.m. CET at Piasa Auction in Paris. For more information, check out the lots online.
