AKNVAS SS25 Was a Breath of Fresh Air
The Danish brand brought a refreshing sense of whimsy to Hudson Yards, debuting a collection full of lace, florals, and funky silhouettes.
Danish brand AKNVAS brought joy to Hudson Yards for its Spring/Summer 25 runway show. Designer Christian Juul Nielsen usually conjures an air of creative expression through his designs, playing with texture and form in a refined way. The same rang true for this collection, which included daring silhouettes, 3D floral appliques, a cheerful color palette, and the brand’s first handbags.
The collection, Nordic Midsummer Camp, transported audiences to a Nordic summer scene. It was inspired by youthful whimsy and unfolded in three chapters: “Urban Scout,” “Monochromatic Flower Fields,” and “Radiant Dew.”
The collection began with two denim looks — a jacket and micro shorts set as well as an ultra mini dress — and later descended into linen and lace looks. Florals may be expected for spring, but much of what AKNVAS unveiled for this range was pretty unexpected. Subverting style norms, Nielsen debuted a series of men’s bloomers and micro mini skirts, proving that the brand’s expression has no bounds.
Halfway through the show, Charli XCX began to pulse through the speakers, and the energy, as well as each look, shifted. Delicate textiles were swapped for edgier ensembles, as a denim grommeted mini dress and matching set made their way down the runway. Two sequined looks closed out the show, ending the range on a high note. The collection also featured an ongoing partnership with Stuart Weitzman, premiering the brand’s moto-inspired Emerson capsule collection.
