UNIQLO Reveals KAWS + Warhol UT Collection and Art Book
The collection includes tees, sweatshirts, coach jackets and more.
UNIQLO has revealed its latest collaboration, the KAWS + Warhol UT collection and art book. Andy Warhol‘s signature motifs from his legendary works are combined with KAWS‘s instantly recognizable characters for a collection that stays true to both artists. The collection’s release commemorates the KAWS + Warhol exhibition, open now at The Andy Warhol Museum.
The expansive collection includes tees, sweatshirts, coach jackets, socks, tote bags and kids’ offerings. Graphics of both KAWS and Warhol’s work mesh seamlessly as a KAWS character can be seen holding Warhol’s iconic banana and another character accompanies one of Warhol’s robot sketches. Fans of the two artists can tell which the designs are from but while different, the two art styles work in harmony.
A KAWS + Warhol art book, a companion to the exhibit, will be released simultaneously. Published by Monacelli, the book displays the duo’s work side-by-side to compare the two art styles. The book will feature an interview with KAWS and those who purchase the book from UNIQLO will also receive an exclusive tote bag.
KAWS reflected on the collection in a statement, “I am pleased to be launching the KAWS + Warhol exhibition catalogue exclusively with my longtime partner UNIQLO. I am humbled to have the opportunity to show my work alongside Andy Warhol, a visionary whose art continues to inspire generations.”
He continues, “To celebrate the occasion, UNIQLO is releasing a capsule collection that places our work together, mirroring the way the exhibition at The Andy Warhol Museum displays our work side-by-side.”
Items will be available at UNIQLO stores worldwide and on its website on August 22nd. Prices range from $24.90 USD to $69.90 USD.
