Tissot Unveils the PRX 40mm UFO Robot Grendizer Special Edition
Starring the titular character on the dial.
Tissot has revealed an unexpected PRX watch collaboration with Go Nagai’s iconic mecha manga UFO Robot Grendizer — the third entry to the prolific Mazinger series.
This collaboration sees a refreshing partnership, uniting two disparately different icons from the ’70s for a nostalgic offering that boasts modern appeal. Housed in an emblematic PRX tonneau-shaped watch case, the timepiece measures 40mm in diameter and boasts a stainless steel build accompanied by a matching metal bracelet.
Spotlighted on the watch’s dial is the titular robot in a galactic blue hue. In the dark, the character’s bust glows in golden-yellow as its entire outline is coated in Super-LumiNova®. Encircling Grendizer are indices and baton hands in a blue lume for a complementing yet contrasting visual display. The tip of the central seconds hand features a Harken motif as a tribute to Grendizer’s signature weapon.
On the open caseback, an engraving featuring a bust of Grendizer can be located on the micro-rotor. An even more subtle homage can be spotted on the watch’s upper flange, which features an engraving of “UFO ロボ グレンダイザー” — the manga’s original Japanese title.
Synonymous with Tissot’s usual specs for the PRX, this 40mm UFO Robot Grendizer Special Edition runs on the Powermatic 80 movement and is available now through the brand for $825 USD.
