It’s only been two months since Nike hosted its second-annual SNKRS Showcase, unveiling a myriad of upcoming releases. One announcement that stood out from the “Icons” collection, comprised of sneakers like the ACG Goadome and Dunk Low, was the reveal of a “Vanta Black” colorway of the Air Force 1 Low.
Named after Vantablack, a super-black coating that was first revealed in 2014, the iconic silhouette takes on its darkest look yet. Presented in a premium version of the notorious all-black look, it dons a suede and nubuck upper that is absent of any color whatsoever. Standard branding elements arrive in tonal form via the shoe’s standard Swooshes, the Nike Air hits at the tongue tag and heel tab, as well as the lace dubrae that reads “AF1.” A lighter black accompanies the sneaker at its sole unit to complete the new look.
At the time of writing, Nike has not specified when this “Vanta Black” take on the Air Force 1 Low will be dropping. Stay tuned for updates as we expect it to land on shelves via Nike SNKRS and select retailers by the end of the year at a price point of $135 USD.
