War Unfolds in Middle-Earth in Season 2 of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’
Premiering on Prime Video on August 29.
Sauron has made his return after being cast out by Galadriel in the new trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The second season of the fantasy drama hones in on its namesake: the powerful rings of power.
War in Middle-earth is brewing, as each faction readies their armies for the chaos to come. This season will focus on the Siege of Eregion, which takes place during the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before the original The Lord of the Rings series.
“Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots… as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all… each other,” the show’s logline reads.
Based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s franchise and developed by showrunners J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay, The Rings of Power is being lauded as the most expensive TV show ever made with a purported budget of $1 billion USD for the first two seasons.
