Steph Curry is extending his tenure with the Golden State Warriors. The four-time NBA champion has signed a one-year extension deal reportedly worth $62.6 million USD, taking the sharp shooter all the way through to 2026-27 with the Warriors.

According to ESPN, Curry is now guaranteed $178 million USD over the next three years of his Warriors deal. Currently, he has two years remaining in his current four-year, $215.4 million USD contract that he signed in August 2021. Due to the NBA’s over-38 rule, he was able to sign a one-year extension. The rule prevents teams from offering contracts of over four years to players who will turn 38 years old during the deal. Curry is 36 at the moment and has been vocal in the past about wanting to only play for the Warriors — which is currently the only franchise he has ever played. He hopes to retire with the team and even said back in July, “I’ve always said I want to be a Warrior for life. At this stage in my career, I feel like that’s possible.”

Curry is coming off an Olympic gold medal win, his first-ever on that stage. He will also become the fourth NBA player to pass $500 million USD in career earnings, joining LeBron James, Paul George and Kevin Durant. Curry enters his 16th season this fall. In the 2023-24 NBA season, he averaged 26.4 points on 40.8% 3-point shooting, 5.1 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game. With Klay Thompson leaving for the Dallas Mavericks, Curry steps into a new era as a 10-time All-Star, a two-time MVP, a one-time Finals MVP and an Olympic gold medalist who has helped the Warriors win four NBA championships.
