Jaeger-LeCoultre Pays Tribute to Monet with New Reverso Series
Featuring three watches, each finely hand-finished by the watchmaker’s Métiers Rarestm Atelier.
Jaeger-LeCoultre has introduced a new series of Reverso Tribute Enamel timepieces, paying homage to Claude Monet’s iconic Venice paintings. The collection, launching in conjunction with the Homo Faber Biennial in Venice, consists of three limited-edition watches, each featuring a meticulously crafted miniature reproduction of Monet’s Venice scenes on the caseback.
The Reverso, renowned for its elegant Art Deco design, serves as a canvas for Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Métiers Rares Atelier to showcase its artistry. These timepieces celebrate the intricate crafts of miniature painting, enameling and guilloche, reflecting the brand’s dedication to fine watchmaking and decorative arts.
Each watch in the series is a tribute to a specific Monet painting: San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk, The Grand Canal and The Doge’s Palace. The miniaturization of Monet’s works onto the small surfaces of the watch case-backs required extraordinary skill, with the enameling process alone taking up to 70 hours. To capture the depth and texture of Monet’s original paintings, up to 14 layers of enamel were applied, with multiple firings at temperatures reaching 800°C.
The dials of these watches complement the artwork with intricate guilloche patterns, covered by layers of translucent grand feu enamel. Each dial’s pattern echoes the themes of light and reflection central to Monet’s Venice series, enhancing the overall aesthetic harmony between the dial and case-back.
Notably, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Reverso Tribute Enamel “Venice Series” will only be released in an extremely limited quantity of 10 editions per design, with details on pricing yet to be revealed at the time of writing.
