Casablanca's FW24 Campaign Merges Ancient Greece and Modern Glamour

Casablanca‘s “Venus as a Boy” Fall/Winter 2024 campaign maintains the sharp focus of creative director, Charaf Tajer‘s runway presentation: the enduring influence of ancient Greek culture on our modern world. The video, directed by Frédéric de Pontcharra, takes viewers on an exhilarating voyage through time and space, evoking a wonderous odyssey that is part Homer’s classic poetry and part Stanley Kubrick’s sci-fi theatrical feature.

The video’s mesmerizing spirit draws inspiration from Eleusis, the legendary Greek pilgrimage site that captivated ancient philosophers and playwrights. Models strike poses reminiscent of Greek gods and Olympian heroes as they traverse Athenian avenues, temple staircases, billowing clouds and rotating galaxies. This visual journey echoes the transformative experiences associated with Eleusinian mysteries.

Musically, the campaign pays homage to iconic ’90s videos and Björk‘s 1993 single, “Venus as a Boy” after which the collection is named. Tajer explains, “Björk’s lyrics have always spoken to me. Her message reflects my constant desire for beauty and curiosity.” The collection itself is a kaleidoscope of rich colors, balancing structured silhouettes with ethereal elements.

The FW24 line showcases a harmonious blend of classical beauty and contemporary allure. Standout pieces include gradient coats in celestial hues, marble-patterned mock neck tops and varsity jackets adorned with flying angels. The collection’s palette of vibrant blues, greens and metallics exudes a sense of otherworldly glamour, while structured tracksuits and sheer tennis gear nod to Casablanca’s sophisticated sportswear roots.
