If it meets the standards of the best golfer to ever play the game, it must be pretty good. That’s more or less been Sun Day Red‘s appeal from the start. A brand that’s essentially an offshoot of TaylorMade, Sun Day Red was announced in February and finally launched in May after countless “when will we actually be able to wear this?” comments on Instagram.

Credit to the marketing team, because SDR merch pretty much sold out instantly and reappeared in places like eBay for double and triple the original price in quick succession. From the beginning, the brand’s calling card has been performance, and what better place to demonstrate that than at the Open Championship. So if you’re watching Tiger Woods compete at Royal Troon this week and his rain gear catches your eye, know that you can purchase it for yourself.

Sun Day Red’s latest drop, named the Weather Collection, is highlighted by two rain ready pieces: a 3L Half Zip Jacket and a 3L Pant. Anyone who’s worked with Tiger, whether it’s on his apparel, equipment or one of his businesses, notes his exacting standards and unwillingness to compromise, and the SDR rain gear focuses on two aspects: material and fit. Working with the champion, the brand leveraged Polartec® Powershield® technology to ensure both pieces provide weather protection without bulk. Meanwhile to eliminate the “crunch” sound that’s typically associated with rain gear, the designers chose soft, stretchy knits instead of woven fabrics. Additional features requested by Tiger included a cargo pocket to store his glove between shots and side pockets that zip through to his internal pant pockets.

Both pieces can be purchased now on Sun Day Red’s website – the jacket for $550 USD and the pants for $500 USD.
