Nocs Design's New "Monolith" Is A Minimal, Portable Aluminum Speaker
No buttons — only grilles and woofers — are on display across the design, which is portable enough to fit in a backpack.
Swedish boutique audio brand Nocs Design prides itself on offering “simply superior sound,” and its latest effort towards fulfilling that ethos is a new portable speaker dubbed the “Monolith.” Though the speaker, a smaller, updated version of its signature in-home sound system, isn’t monolithic in size (it can comfortably fit in a backpack and weighs just under nine pounds) it is its style. This “Monolith” is made of a single-piece aluminum shell crafted in a CNC (computer numerical control) machine and features a minimalistic design with no visible buttons, only its grilles and woofer.
“Countless hours were devoted solely to achieving the perfect symmetry in the positioning of the drivers,” says Nocs Design founder Daniel Alm. “There are no logos, no frills — only the sleek yet refined appearance of solid aluminum remains. Timelessness is paramount to me.”

Besides its striking Scandinavian design profile, the “Monolith” pumps out high-fidelity sound. It’s tuned in-house at the Nocs Design HQ in Lund, Sweden in partnership with DJs and musicians. The “Monolith” offers more than 15 hours of playtime on a single charge, can stream via Bluetooth 5.3, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and its in-house Nocs Design music app, with more streaming services added later on. It’s also capible of dual-band 2.4 and 5 GHz connection.
The Nocs Design “Monolith” aluminum speaker is available for pre-order in both silver and black colorways on the brand’s webstore now, and retails for $1,000 USD. Each speaker comes with three free months of Tidal, and an Alcantara leather sleeve will be provided to the first 50 customers. You can expect pre-orders to begin shipping in November.
