Kevin Feige Defends Movie Sequels, Saying They Are an "Absolute Pillar of the Industry"
Inferring that there will be more Marvel sequels down the line.
It is no surprise that Kevin Feige has a propensity for sequels when it comes to his MCU legacy. The Marvel head honcho recently spoke to Variety about his professional life in Hollywood and his future with Marvel.
With Deadpool & Wolverine‘s imminent arrival in cinemas across the world, marking the MCU’s 49th title across film and television, Feige recently received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Reflecting on his career and what he has accomplished, the 51-year-old expressed how watch films as a kid inspired him in his career today. He expressed the importance of sequels and shared,
“I always liked the world-building and being able to return to characters. I was always excited for sequels. I was never cynical or rolling my eyes the way people still do today for some reason, even though there’ve been sequels since the ’30s and they’re an absolute pillar of the industry. To me, those were always what I enjoyed most, the notion that something I loved was returning and it would expand on what I loved about it.”
Feige has created an empire with the MCU, with sequel after sequel and it seems that he shows no signs of stopping. While the third Deadpool movie is currently at the height of conversations, Feige and his MCU team are already gearing up for new releases up to 2026, with more to come in the future across TV and film.
