Update: We’ve been tracking the return of the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Shattered Backboard” for nearly an entire year now. While it was previously discussed as a July launch, it has since been postponed to August. However, we do have a complete preview of what to expect from the sneaker, including its thematic packaging. Look out for the shoe to make its grand return on August 23 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at an adjusted price of $185 USD.

Update: Of the many 40th anniversary releases celebrating the Air Jordan 1 this year, the return of the “Shattered Backboard” colorway is a standout. The 2015 design, which led to various spin-off looks in the years following, is back with its “Black,” “Sail,” and “Starfish” orange color blocking that we described previously below. Its launch remains scheduled for July 12 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a price of $180 USD.

Update: As we geared up for this year’s celebration of the Air Jordan 1’s 40th anniversary, many rumored launches left us wondering just how many would actually come to fruition. Many of these leaked pairs have been appearing, with a first look at the re-release of the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Shattered Backboard” recently popping up. 10 years later, Jordan Brand has stayed true to the beloved colorway as its black, off-white, and orange color blocking remains unchanged. It looks to again sport premium leather and its thematic sockliner, tying the sneaker to the iconic moment that we mentioned in our previous discussion below. Release is now expected to take place on July 12 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a starting price of $180 USD.

Original Story: Next year marks the 40th anniversary of the Air Jordan 1, which is due to result in an even larger wave of releases than we’ve grown accustomed to. Rumors regarding the shoe’s 2025 plans have touched on everything from an Air Jordan 1 Hi ‘85 “Bred” to a Swarovski collaboration and “UNC Reimagined” colorway.

Now, the latest update involving the shoe comes from SoleSavy, which has just reported that 2015’s hit “Shattered Backboard” look (pictured above) will be making a return next year. Inspired by Jordan’s backboard-breaking dunk from 1985, the “Black,” “Starfish” and “Sail” color composition has been remixed many times since — most recently appearing on the Nike BOOK 1 as a PE. Commemorating not only the AJ1’s 40th anniversary, but the 10th anniversary of the “Shattered Backboard” release, the re-release is expected to stay true to its original detailing, including an all-leather upper.

At the time of writing, Jordan Brand has not confirmed whether or not the “Shattered Backboard” rendition of the Air Jordan 1 High OG will be returning. Stay tuned for updates, including a first look at the 2025 version of the colorway, as it’s currently expected to release via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at some point during 2025 around the $180 USD price point.
