When most people think of spikeless golf shoes they probably think of silhouettes borrowed from tennis, soccer, running or basketball and given a light makeover to make them suitable for the course. adidas actually makes a few of those (Samba, Superstar and Stan Smith included). But five years into its lifespan, the CODECHAOS is a different animal because although it doesn’t have removable spikes it does have a gnarly set of traction lugs that perform a similar function. It also has to be said that it looks nothing like a traditional golf shoe. If anything, it looks like a shoe you might style with a Stone Island or Arc’teryx jacket.

For all those reasons the CODECHAOS occupies a unique place in the golf footwear market, and now adidas has revealed the latest version for 2025. The key updates, according to adidas, lie in stability and traction. Exclusive to the laceless BOA model this year is PerformFit Wrap, a tightening mechanism that complements the normal BOA Fit System to provide an even more secure fit. Next to that is the 3D TORSION plate which can be found in the outsole where it will provide a greater feeling of stability during the golf swing. CODECHAOS’s signature TWISTGRIP outsole also returns this year, albeit with more aggressive lugs and greater coverage across the outsole. Finally BOOST cushioning combined with LIGHTSTRIKE ensures the CODECHAOS 25 offers a comfortable ride for walking 18.

adidas’s latest spikeless model will be available in laced and laceless varieties for men, women and juniors starting August 1.
