Pharrell Williams Releases LVERS, His First Louis Vuitton Fragrance, In Time for Summer
Inspired by light, LVERS features crispy green notes with undercurrents of cedar and ginger.
Even with his Tiffany collabs and musical output, Pharrell is still making time to innovate at Louis Vuitton by releasing his first fragrance with the house. The scent, titled LVERS, comes just in time for the summer months as it embodies sunlight and the fresh, woody smells of nature.
Crafted in tandem with perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, LVERS was designed to honor the house’s codes while continuing to subvert expectations by removing the constraints of gender-specific scents for a neutral fragrance filled with woody notes of cedar and sandalwood. The scent’s main ingredient comes from an unconventional source: galbanum, a gum resin from an Iranian plant.
This special note aims to transport the wearer to lush gardens that thrive off the sun’s powerful rays. Some ginger extract is also included to exemplify the scent’s crisp nature. A middle note of bergamot also adds a fruity flair to the largely woody and green palette. The bottle design also reflects the natural ingredients, displaying Williams’ camo print that has taken over Louis Vuitton accessories under his direction, while the case also stays true to the house with a trunk-inspired design and gold hardware.
“The theme of sunlight that lit up Pharrell’s debut show on Pont Neuf in June 2023 inspired us to convey photosynthesis in scent,” says Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. “It may sound abstract, but if you look at life, photosynthesis is the starting point for everything.”
LVERS isn’t Williams’ first foray into the fragrance market as he released “G I R L,” a collaborative scent with COMME des GARÇONS and KAWS (who designed the bottle) in a decade prior in 2014.
LVERS launches worldwide online and in Louis Vuitton stores on June 19th. It’s priced at $320 USD.
