Credor Brings Back the Gérald Genta-Designed Locomotive Wristwatch

In time for its 50th anniversary, Seiko has revived Credor the Locomotive model as a limited-edition — an iconic timepiece that was conceptualized by the legendary Gérald Genta.

Founded in 1974, Credor has always been a watch brand that employs artisanal craftsmanship, precision watchmaking with aesthetics that nod to the beauty ideals of Japan. While Genta was known to have designed many emblematic and highly sought-after watches of our time, including the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and the Patek Philippe Nautilus, the Locomotive was created as an emblem that marked the friendship between the watchmaker and Seiko.

Evelyne Genta, widow and business partner of Gérald Genta explained that her late husband’s “love for Japanese culture in particular came from the desire to achieve excellence, the attention to detail, and the great value placed upon craftsmanship. He was honored to work for Seiko, and the Credor Locomotive became one of his most important creations. I am sure he would be delighted to know of its rebirth.”

The revived Credor Locomotive faithfully recreates the original, from its distinct shape, and textured dial to the bracelet, but comes with modern refinements. Attired in high-intensity titanium, the timepiece houses an automatic Caliber CR01 that keeps it running continuously for up to 45 hours.

Limited to a production of 300 units only, the Credor Locomotive Limited Edition has a recommended retail price of $12,000 USD and is scheduled for an August release. For more information, head over to Credor’s official website.
