The Air Jordan 9 Golf "US Open" Is Pinehurst-Bound
An ode to North Carolina’s Interstate 74.
As the third major championship of the golf season approaches – the US Open – Nike and Jordan Brand continue to reveal their plan to build excitement around this pivotal moment on the golf calendar. That involves an icy blue “Accept and Embrace” theme for the Nike footwear and a fiery red and orange Air Jordan 9 Golf, and we now have official images of the latter.
An ode to the Interstate 74 highway that crosses through the heart of North Carolina about 15 miles west of Pinehurst, this year’s US Open Jordan sneaker opts primarily for neutral colors across its leather upper and full length suede mudguard, while hits of red, orange and yellow arrive only in small doses. Burnt orange appears on the shoe’s primary lace choice and Jumpman heel and outsole logos, while the ball and wings tongue logos, as well as the insoles, are a combination of red and yellow. The I-74 symbol, which shows up with Jordan in place of the word “Interstate,” is placed on both the heels and insoles. In fact, the insoles have the most generous displays of artwork, as a journey depicted by a dotted line starts as a basketball on one side and becomes a golf ball on the other, mirroring the path of Jordan Brand.
While no release date is available yet, we shouldn’t have to wait long with the US Open coming June 13.
