Update: It’s nearly time for the “Masterpiece” colorway of the Nike Kobe 9 Elite to make its return, this time appearing in Protro form. The re-release features all of the look’s key attributes, from its multicolored detailing to the textured black overlays. Release remains set for February 8 at a price of $240 USD via Nike SNKRS and select retailers.
Update: Nike Basketball just announced its upcoming Kobe releases yesterday, including official confirmation that the rumored return of 2014’s Kobe 9 Elite Protro “Masterpiece” will be happening next month. In addition to this, a detailed preview of the kicks popped up on Instagram, further highlighting how its look stays true to its predecessor. Nike noted that the pair will be dropping on February 8 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a starting price of $240 USD.

Original Story: It looks like Nike is getting ready to welcome back a popular silhouette for next year. Already prepping ahead for upcoming seasons, Instagram account @zsneakerheadz reports that the Nike Kobe 9 Elite Protro “Masterpiece” is slated to join next spring’s lineup.
Originally launched in 2014, the shoe was a collaboration between NBA legend Kobe Bryant and Nike’s Eric Avar. The “Masterpiece” colorway sees the shoe arrive in a vibrant multicolor Flyknit upper, contrasting the black base of the shoe. Metallic silver accents are seen throughout the sneaker while it sits atop a LunarIon insert for added cushioning on top of the thin web outsole. The Mamba logo is seen on the quilted leather tongues while the symbolic red stitching is seen on the heel to pay homage to Bryant’s return following his career-threatening Achilles injury. The Swoosh is highlighted in white to match the rubber outsole to round out the design.
