Land Rover has rolled out a suite of new upgrades and features for its flagship Defender model, including all-new captain chairs and a new D350 powertrain.

The luxurious new seats, fitted with heating and cooling technology, will be available for second-row riders in the Defender 130. The chairs possess individual armrests with an aisle in between for additional space, while twin cupholders on a raised section behind the front console. Additionally, the seats can be fitted with winged headrests for maximal comfort.

The captain chairs come as part of a new Signature Interior Pack, which includes features such as 14-way electrically controlled seats, memory functions, Windsor leather and Kvadrat seats available in several colorways. Notably, the pack is standard on Defender X and V8 specifications.

Defender customers can now choose between S, X-Dynamic SE, X-Dynamic HSE, X and V8 specifications on 90, 110 and 130 models. New to the engine lineup is a new D350 powertrain, which will replace the previous D300 engine with an uplift of 50PS and more torque.

There’s also a new 110 Sedona Edition of the vehicle, which draws inspiration from the Arizona locale’s landmarks with a deep red hue. The car comes with an optional bonnet decal modeled after Sedona’s topography.

“Our vision for Defender is to continuously improve what is already a superb vehicle that can go anywhere and do anything,” said Mark Cameron, managing director of Land Rover Defender. “The introduction of the new Sedona Edition, enhanced interior options and our most powerful ever Defender diesel engine mean our clients now have more choice than ever. And with the new Captain Chairs in Defender 130, up to seven people can now travel in greater comfort on both epic adventures and localised expeditions.”
