Update: As Jordan Brand’s “Reimagined” series continues to expand each year, remixing iconic looks by putting a fresh twist on them, the Air Jordan 5 “Black Metallic Reimagined” has been rumored as an early 2025 launch for several months now. Now, our first look at the pair, albeit a low resolution one with limited detail, gives us an idea of what to expect from the anticipated drop. Much of the colorway’s typical arrangement remains in tact, including its black nubuck upper, silver midsole detailing, icy outsole and more. However, the laces are now in white with reflective piping surrounding each overlay. Release is now expected to take place on February 8 of next year via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a price of $210 USD. Stay tuned for additional imagery and review our initial discussions below for more info.

Update: Last month it was reported that the Air Jordan 5 “Black Metallic” would be making its return next year. Now, zSneakerHeadz and Sneaker Files have clarified that the colorway will be re-releasing under the “Reimagined” series — one where Jordan Brand puts a special twist on classic looks. While we await a first look at the pair, the reputable sneaker leakers did note that it will feature white laces and reflective piping throughout the shoe’s upper while still sporting the expected color arrangement that we outlined previously below. Stay tuned for updates as we expect the Air Jordan 5 “Black Metallic Reimagined” to release sometime next year via Nike SNKRS and select retailers.

Original Story: Per usual, Jordan Brand has an exciting slate of Air Jordan 5 releases scheduled throughout this year. While next week sees the launch of the “Sail” pair, a “Black Cat” iteration is expected to land on shelves later this year, prompting much interest. With the sneaker’s 35th anniversary next year, it’s looking like 2025 is going to be a major time for the Air Jordan 5 to shine, especially as a new rumor from zSneakerHeadz and Sneaker Files has indicated that its OG “Black Metallic” colorway is returning.

Previously, the design initially dropped in 1990 with re-releases in 2000, 2007, 2011 and 2016, not to mention a low-top golf version in 2020. Its color arrangement of “Black,” “White,” “Metallic Silver” and “Fire Red” has been confirmed, however, its specific detailing has not been disclosed just yet. Pictured above is the 2016 pair, which you can expect it to likely match next year.

At the time of writing, Jordan Brand has not confirmed any details regarding the possible return of the Air Jordan 5 “Black Metallic” colorway. Stay tuned for updates, including a first look at the pair, as we currently expect it to land on shelves via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a possible price of $210 USD sometime next year.
