Hodinkee’s Ben Clymer Puts His Name on a G-SHOCK Ref. 5600
The final timepiece of the John Mayer-curated collaborative series.

Hodinkee is closing out its three-part collaborative series with G-SHOCK with a special limited-edition Ref. 5600 by Ben Clymer, Hodinkee’s founder and chairman. Curated by John Mayer, the final timepiece of the project not only commemorates a full circle moment for the founder and the brand, it’s also the first watch to bear Clymer’s name.
Modeled after G-SHOCK emblematic DW-5600, the collaborative reference is presented in a resin case doused in Hodinkee’s signature gray hue. Adding a touch of color blocking, the watch strap arrives in a dark gray, while the keeper comes in an olive green to mirror the dial.
In place of the CASIO logo that commonly appears on the top of the dial, the letters “NYC TYO ATL” are now emblazoned onto the dial. The three initials symbolize the three homes of the brands: NYC and ATL nodding to Hodinkee’s New York and Atlanta offices, while TYO stands for G-SHOCK’s headquarters in Tokyo.
On the caseback, the watch is engraved with “BEN CLYMER” and “HODINKEE,” alongside a thank you note and the Latin phrase “Esse Quam Videri” — which translates to “To be, rather than to seem.” Priced at $185 USD, the G-SHOCK Ref. 5600 By Ben Clymer limited edition is now available via the Hodinkee Shop. With every purchase, $5 USD will be donated to support the Horological Society of New York.
