Update: Last month, word of made in Italy Air Jordan 1 Highs and Lows costing up to $975 USD had the sneaker world talking. Now, after much discussion about the potential releases, Jordan Brand has officially presented its Jordan Wings collection.

Dubbed the “most pinnacle product expression to date,” the range reimagines historic designs with a luxurious finish that has been crafted in Italy, going beyond just the Air Jordan 1 by complementing it with apparel and accessories. Looking first at the sneakers once again, four designs — comprised of two low-tops and two high-tops — have been assembled. Three feature full-grain Italian leather, while the black high-top utilizes hair-on-hide Italian leather. On top of this, a heavy satin lining and foot-conforming foam emphasize comfort with each pair. Additional details include a numbered tongue, debossed Wings logo at the collar, satin and leather sockliner options and four lace sets with metallic gold aglets.

Looking to the apparel, special moments in Michael Jordan’s history have been captured. Jordan’s distinct warm-up set has been paid homage to with the Jordan Wings Track Jacket and Pants as both carry a premium nylon finish and an Air Jordan monogram jacquard. As for the Jordan Wings Photo Sweater, it retells the story of Jordan’s first-publicized image of his inaugural game for the Chicago Bulls. Beyond this, a cashmere-blended poncho, premium fleece hoodie, luxe varsity jacket and buttery lambskin shorts all serve as additional highlights. That’s not all — each Jordan Wings Knot Sweater took seven hours of hand-stitch work to create, drawing inspiration from NBA nets. Thematic tees join the collection, with a special button-down, oversized popover, sport-inspired pants, leather pants, monogram jacquard-equipped shorts, lambskin skirt and lambskin bra rounding things out.

Accessories complete the collection as the same made in Italy craftsmanship carries over to the smooth Italian calfskin-backed cardholder and the lambskin duffle bag. The Jordan Wings Pouch also leans on calfskin, while the Jordan Wings Bucket Hat arrives in color options of black, white and orange — which Jordan Brand notes as an item that Jordan himself grabbed every color of. Another piece of Jordan history connects with the Jordan Wings Two-Finger Ring, paying homage to Jordan’s taped game-day fingers with its gold-plated brass build. Last but not least, the gold-plated brass keychain and the all-silk Jordan Wings Scarf serve as the final touches to this premium range.

The Jordan Wings Collection is said to be releasing in limited quantities throughout Greater China, with Beijing hosting the exclusive debut later this month.

Original Story: Jordan Brand will drop its most premium iterations of the Air Jordan 1 yet — the Air Jordan 1 “Wings” collection — in 2024. Featuring a fully made-in-Italy leather build, the “Wings” releases boast Jordan Brand’s highest in-line MSRP ever: $975 USD for the Air Jordan 1 High and $875 USD for the Air Jordan 1 Low.

First rumored at the top of 2023, the “Wings” were initially thought to have an MSRP between $1,300 USD and $1,500 USD until recent reports showed their price to be somewhat lower, though still substantial. Shown in photos from Matt “Corporate Got Em” Tomamichel, the “Wings” arrive in three styles: all-white high tops and low-tops with raw edges that show off their premium leather construction, as well as a low-top pair equipped with a “French Blue” swoosh and regular edging. All appear to feature a special ball-and-wings tongue tag with a “Made in Italy” hit, a nod to their construction, and, potentially, to the Air Jordan 2, which prominently featured the ball-and-wings logo on its tongue and was initially produced in Italy back in 1986.

The 2023 rumors around the “Wings” indicated six colorways (three High, three Low), though the supposed remaining colors have yet to be revealed. The market’s reaction to this high-priced silhouette bears watching, as in 2014, Jordan Brand released the ill-received Air Jordan Shine, an Air Jordan 1-inspired silhouette with premium leather, a Bottega Veneta-like weave on its upper and a $400 USD price tag. On the other end of the spectrum, the brand had success with high-priced collaborations Don C’s $650 USD Just Don x Air Jordan 2 collaborations in 2015, 2016 and 2017 or, of course, the Dior x Air Jordan 1 collection in 2020, with high-tops priced at $2,200 USD and low-tops at $2,000 USD.

Stay tuned for more info as it’s made available.
