seconde/seconde/ And Spinnaker Reunite for a Halloween-Ready Watch Collaboration
Coming in Phantom Classic and Phantom No App versions.
Following the success of their last collaboration, Spinnaker and seconde/seconde/ have teamed up once again to give the Fleuss 40 Automatic a playful yet spooky twist. The new collaboration spotlights not one, but two distinct styles: Phantom Classic and Phantom No App — both rendered in a purple and orange color palette that befits their Halloween vibe.
A sequel to last year’s “Fifty Phantoms,” Phantom Classic stars an updated design that also features 50 custom-molded ghosts on the dial. While the preceding edition featured a more tradition silhouette for the ghosts, the new iteration showcases sleeker and cleaner outlines, with the ghosts also infused in a mix of blue and green Super-LumiNova that creates a depth-of-field-like visual effect.
Meanwhile, Phantom No App boasts a completely different dial design. Flaunting a much simpler appearance, the only noticeable decorative element appears to be above the 6 o’clock mark. Resembling the shape of a rotating warning light, the motif draws inspiration from “no radiation” signs, complete with “NO APPARITIONS” as adornment. Upon a closer look, one will notice that the bezel is decked out with allover luminous “ghosts” that seem as if they’ve escaped from the dial.
The ghostly detail is extended onto the watches’ open caseback as well. All variants feature a single ghost floating at the center of the caseback, while a red dripping liquid-inspired graphic embellished the edge of the oscillating weight.
“Of course, this concept watch has a seasonal aspect, but my greatest pleasure is seeing people wearing it and enjoying it any time of the year,” Romaric André (seconde/seconde/) tells Hypebeast, explaining how he “always had a sweet spot for things that seem at first slightly inadequate and surprisingly out of place.”
The new Fleuss 40 Automatic seconde/seconde 2024 Editions are priced at $445 USD, every unit comes in special packaging, complete with a leather strap, a rubber strap, a special-edition cap and a complimentary UV torch. The first 1,000 examples will be available to pre-order through Spinnaker on October 25, while the remaining units will be available via global retailers.
