Spinnaker and French watch designer seconde/seconde/ are bringing back their cult “50 Phantoms” concept for a fourth annual collaboration, this time built around the Fleuss 40 Automatic. The 2026 edition turns the series into a literal game of hide-and-seek, placing 50 ghost figures throughout each watch and leaving their discovery to the wearer.
Two personalities split the release: the openly playful “CRAZY” (SP-5195-11A) and the more restrained “QUIET” (SP-5195-11B). Both use a 40mm stainless-steel Fleuss case with a 47mm lug-to-lug measurement, screw-down crown and box-style sapphire crystal, while a polished white ceramic unidirectional bezel receives a custom wavy edge designed to recall the hem of a ghost’s robe.
The difference lies largely in how each model handles its phantom population. “CRAZY” puts the concept front and center through a multi-layer white dial populated by printed and embossed ghosts in blue, white, green and yellow, distributed between the dial base and crystal and treated with luminous material for an especially animated appearance after dark. “QUIET” initially appears far more conventional, pairing a matte-white dial with applied silver indexes while hiding its ghost graphics until they are exposed to UV light. Swiss Super-LumiNova also appears across the hands, applied markers and bezel on both references.
Power comes from a Miyota 9039 automatic movement, visible through the exhibition caseback, while 10 ATM of water resistance keeps the diver-inspired Fleuss platform intact. Each watch is supplied with a stainless-steel bracelet, orange nylon strap and white silicone strap – with the “CRAZY” version even cutting phantom silhouettes into its silicone strap -alongside a UV torch to uncover the concealed details.
The presentation continues the joke beyond the wrist, with both watches arriving beneath a purpose-built glass ghost display dome surrounding a sculpted EVA-foam phantom, accompanied by a ghost-shaped cleaning cloth. The “CRAZY” edition is limited to 1,500 individually numbered pieces, while the subtler “QUIET” is capped at 850, with both priced at $600 USD.
The Spinnaker x seconde/seconde/ Fleuss 40 Automatic “50 Phantoms” 2026 Edition launches on October 16, 2026, via Spinnaker, followed by a one-week pre-order period for an additional made-to-order production run determined by demand.
