Undercover Pre-Fall 2024 Is for "All Twisted People"
The collection builds on brand classics with geometric patterns, vivid hues and utilitarian details.
After revealing a Fall/Winter 2024 collection inspired by David Lynch’s American crime drama series Twin Peaks, Undercover has returned to lift the curtain on its Pre-Fall 2024 lineup.
The succinct range builds on the classic Undercover wardrobe, with a bounty of staple, function-first ensembles. Here, designer Jun Takahashi prioritized a geometric pattern, which commands several silhouettes, including overcoats, puffers, zip-up jackets, logo-laden crewnecks and joggers. Plaid, too, plays a key role in statement-making, appearing in red on vests and button-up shirts, while an eye-catching neon green tone supplies strikes of vivid color on the tail-ends of nylon coats and on deconstructed knit underlayers.
The focus on utilitarianism is the strongest. Several hooded jackets are constructed with weather-resistant materials, drawstring closures and insulated layers; trousers feature multiple zippers and pockets for ample storage, and scarves, en masse, place warmth in the fore. On the topic of heat, knitwear stakes a substantial claim in the range, with striped cable-knit and abstract mohair iterations appearing throughout.
Overall, the line’s color story, patterns and graphics are rather straightforward; however, there is one coat that houses lettering reading “Undercover for All Twisted People,” echoing the punkish attitudes that have always informed Takahashi’s design practice.
