Graffiti Legend JA ONE XTC Lends His Iconic Two-Letter Tag to New Awake NY Capsule
Hoodies and tees with JA’s familiar markings, plus a brand-new handstyle graphic.

JA ONE XTC — the legendary graffiti artist and founder of the XTC crew — has been tagging the walls, trains, and billboards of New York City for over 40 years. His output is so prolific that in a 1995 Rolling Stone profile, a detective with the NYPD noted “He’s probably got the most throw-ups in the city, in the country, in the world. If the average big-time graffiti vandal has 10,000 tags, JA’s got 100,000.” Now, JA is bringing his instantly recognizable tags and throw-ups to a new canvas: a capsule of tees and hoodies created in partnership with Awake NY.
The concise four-piece capsule includes a hoodie, long-sleeve tee and two T-shirts, all combining JA’s recognizable motifs with Awake NY’s familiar flowing logo. The hoodie features a clever “JAwake” logo flip, the most seamless interpolation of logos across the items, while short-sleeve tees cover the lion’s share of the logo with JA’s repeating wordmark. Long-sleeve and short-sleeve tees alike also boast a brand-new handstyle design that combines JA’s moniker and Awake NY in flowing fashion.
Graff historians and streetwear stans alike can cop the collection on Saturday, January 13 when it releases via Awake NY’s flagship at 62 Orchard St and the Awake NY webstore. Short-sleeve tees are priced at $60, long-sleeve tees at $80 and hoodies at $150.
