Grand Seiko Envisages an Aerial View of Ginza on the Limited-Edition SBGH317
Sporting a wintry periwinkle dial in a sunray finish.

From North America and Europe to Asia-exclusive releases, regional limited-edition timepieces are nothing new for Grand Seiko. However, the Japanese watch brand’s latest offering takes on an even more exclusive nature, as it’s both dedicated and only limited to its boutique locations in Ginza.
Ginza, being one of Tokyo’s most ritzy and upscale districts, is also where the Grand Seiko and Seiko headquarters are located. In saying so, this isn’t the first time the watchmaker has released an exclusive model for the neighborhood. In 2022, Grand Seiko unveiled the Hi-Beat SBGH297 with a powder blue dial featuring a design that was inspired by Ginza’s street map.
Although the new Ginza-exclusive SBGH317 follows the same concept as its 2022 predecessor, its design is much more elevated. Dressed in periwinkle, the dial features a sunray finish and grid-like structure inspired by an aerial map view of Ginza. Meanwhile, the cool-toned hue draws inspiration from the serene mood that one can witness in the district during winter twilights.
Arriving in a classic 62GS case featuring Zaratsu polished and brushed parts, the wristwatch is accompanied by a matching three-link, stainless steel bracelet. Boasting 55 hours of power reserve, its 9S86 caliber is displayed through its sapphire specially engraved open caseback.
Priced at ¥847,000 JPY (approximately $5,836 USD), the SBGH297 is set to release later this month. It will only be available at Grand Seiko boutiques in Ginza and in a limited run of 530 pieces. For more details, head over to Grand Seiko’s official website.
