BRED Abu Dhabi Festival Presented by Hypebeast Slated for Return This April
The announcement was made at last week’s neo-culture documentary screening.
BRED Abu Dhabi, the contemporary neo-culture festival, has announced that it will return to Yas Island from April 24 to 28 to host its second annual edition.
Following on from last year’s successful debut, the upcoming festival will continue to celebrate neo-culture by bringing global talent as well as regional artists and designers to the forefront. In addition to the vibrant arts showcase, BRED will play host to various retailers and street food vendors, offering up a variety of attractions for attendees to explore.
The announcement of this year’s festival was made at an exclusive launch party in Abu Dhabi last week. With local creatives in attendance, organizers shared a sneak peek at what to expect at the 2024 showcase, before screening a short film that documents the Middle East’s rising neo-culture phenomenon.
Created by Palestinian director Ashraf Dowani, the film looks to the artists of BRED Abu Dhabi 2023 to explore how the new creative wave has been central to their work. Featured in the seven-minute film is creative director Tareq Qaddumi who delves into neo-culture’s crossover of artists, designers, and musicians who share a dialogue of self-expression in their respective mediums.
His account is joined by those from Emirati rapper Saud G, art curator Ahmad Makary, Tunisian designer Midos, as well as dual heritage creatives DJ Saliah and Zayed Al Haddar. Be sure to watch the full documentary in the gallery above.
