From Corteiz to Martine Rose: Here are the Nominees for the 2023 Fashion Awards
Announcing two new categories and a slew of emerging and established nominees.
Every year, the British Fashion Council hosts one of the biggest nights of the year and celebrates the UK talent making industry moves. Since 1989, the BFC has decked the halls of the Royal Albert Hall, packing the historic space with fashion-hungry crowds eager for their next winner.
S.S.DALEY, Grace Wales Bonner, and Burberry scored big at the 2022 Fashion Awards, looking to shake things up for 2023 with a slew of established and emerging talent. This year’s nominees honor the best of the best in British fashion — those making a difference through purpose-led collections and supreme innovation. The four categories include Model of the Year, British Menswear Designer, British Womenswear Designer, New Establishment Menswear, and New Establishment Womenswear.
Over 1,000 industry insides will vote for their winners, while the public can select the recipient of Model of the Year.
Grace Wales Bonner’s eponymous label has been nominated for British Menswear Designer of the Year alongside Bulgarian designer Kiko Kostadinov, Dior Men‘s Kim Jones, Martine Rose, and Steven Stokey-Daley. They are recognized for their international fashion impact in the menswear landscape.
Those in the running for British Womenswear Designer of the Year include Erdem Moralıoğlu, Maximilian Davis for Ferragamo, Nensi Dojaka, ROKSANDA, and Simone Rocha. All outstanding in their own right, their work has championed the UK fashion scene through creative outputs that cross restrictive borders.
This year, the BFC has announced two new awards, recognizing fresh designers shaking up the industry through dynamic business endeavors and product offerings. The celebrated designers for New Establishment Menswear are Bianca Saunders, Corteiz, LABRUM, Nicholas Daley, and Saul Nash. If won, this would mark Corteiz’s first substantial recognition, honoring its role in reigniting the streetwear craze. Finally, Chopova Lowena, Dilara Fındıkoğlu, KNWLS, ROBERT WUN, and Supriya Lele have been nominated for the womenswear category.
While Model of the Year be determined differently, the nominees have transcended world-class runways with fearless attitudes. They are Alton Mason, Anok Yai, Kai-Isaiah Jamal, Liu Wen, Mona Tougaard, and Paloma Elsesser.
The 2023 Fashion Awards will occur on December 4 at the Royal Albert Hall, where the winners will be announced.
