Nike has revealed the Ja 1 “Ain’t Ducking No Smoke,” an extension of the “Midnight Series” inspired by Ja Morant‘s phrase “We ain’t ducking no smoke. We run up the chimney,” which he said in response to smack talk from the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Patrick Beverly during his third year in the League.

Since its reveal in February, the Ja 1 has received a variety of inline colorway examples, with this latest one of the more subtle pairs to release.

The Nike Ja 1 “Ain’t Ducking No Smoke” features an upper made up of jet-black tones expressed through the mesh, TPU layers, leather layers, laces, liner and tongue tags. Additionally, the pair features a smokey black Nike Swoosh which brings the shoe’s expression to life — the text that reads “Ain’t Ducking No Smoke” can be found at the heel of the lateral side of the shoe, just below the Swoosh.

Accenting details include Morant’s number “12” stitched in yellow at the heel, with the same yellow adorning his logo on the right shoe’s tongue tag and the player’s colored initials shown on the interior of the tag. All of these design elements sit on top of a bone or off-white colored Zoom tech rubber mid and outsole.

The pair is expected to be released on October 6 for a retail price of $120 USD via Nike’s official site.

In other footwear news, the Nike SB React Leo receives a “Panda” colorway.
