Sampha Announces First Album in Six Years, 'LAHAI'
Casually revealing the album’s title in an Instagram post.
Since Sampha‘s last album dropped – Process, back in 2017 – the ethereal musician has appeared on tracks by Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott, establishing himself as modern-day hip hop’s go-to hook man. Now six years after his debut album, he’s readying his next move as a solo artist: his highly anticipated sophomore album. While a release date still remains yet to be announced, Sampha confirmed that he does have a new album on the way, and it’s called LAHAI.
The UK singer took to his Instagram to share the news, explaining his personal connection to the album title – which is both his grandfather’s name and his middle name. The second part of the post’s caption reads: “Fever Dreams. Continuums. Dancing. Generations. Syncopation. Bridges. Grief. Motherlands. Love. Spirit. Fear. Flesh. Flight” – a list that appears to be a tracklist. Sampha dropped off the dreamy single “Spirit 2.0” earlier this summer.
