Roger Federer and JW Anderson Announce Upcoming Uniqlo Collection
The first time the two are joining forces.
Tennis legend Roger Federer and JW Anderson are officially teaming up for a Uniqlo collection. This is the first time that Federer and JW Anderson are collaborating together under their partnerships with the Japanese retailer.
WWD was the first to report the news of the duo joining forces. The tennis professional teams and Jonathan Anderson‘s British fashion label are creating a capsule for Uniqlo, combining Federer’s athletic background with the JW Anderson apparel design codes. Although it is the first time the two have come together, they both have had their own individual partnerships with Uniqlo over the past few years. Since 2018, Federer has been an ambassador of the brand while Anderson has worked with Uniqlo since 2017 to create both men and women’s capsules.
In a statement regarding the partnership, the Swiss tennis legend said, “I’ve always wanted to have a collection perfect for playing tennis while also versatile for the other parts of daily life.” On working with Anderson, he notes, “I’m fortunate that Jonathan shared this vision. Together we were able to create a stylish and comfortable line rooted in a classic tennis style. Jonathan is talented, creative and incredibly down-to-earth. It has been a pleasure to work with him on this collection.” The collection is slated to feature nine genderless pieces that include a range of polos, sweaters, shorts, parkas and a sports bag. The pieces arrive in a black, white, grey and blue color scheme with the apparel items designed with Uniqlo’s Dry Ex material to ensure the wearer stays dry and cool. The capsule also features a color blocked blue and black crewneck sweater, a zipped fleece jacket and a white tracksuit with navy, green and white piping details as portrayed by Federer in the images above.
Anderson released his own statement regarding the collaboration, “When I was first approached about creating a collection with Roger, I remember being very happy and excited. That’s because I was so influenced by watching Roger play. Thinking a lot about what LifeWear means for all the different people who look up to Roger, we designed a collection that could be worn in an actual match, for a classic look or just as easily be worn around town. We’ve got something that feels elevated, and it is kind of timeless.”
The Roger Federer x JW Anderson Uniqlo Collection is set to become available at Uniqlo stores and online starting on August 28. The collection prices will range between $39.90 to $89.90 USD.
