Earlier this month, Omar Apollo teased his forthcoming single by unveiling ice sculptures in London, Los Angeles and New York, cueing fans into the location of the sculptures so they could join in on the fun themselves.

The Indiana-born singer has now dropped the track, a smooth and gentle R&B cut entitled “Ice Slippin.” Co-produced by himself and Teo Halm, the song hears Apollo muse about when a certain someone will be coming home after driving on the icy roads.

“‘Ice Slippin is about reliving the thoughts I had passing through my mind the winter I came out to my family,” he shared. “Receiving cold judgment as opposed to the acceptance I felt I deserved. This song is a reflection and reaction of all the emotions I had to face before and after I decided to leave the icy streets of Indiana.”

Along with the new single, Apollo has shared that he’ll be putting out an EP, Live for Me. That project is expected to arrive on October 6 and will follow last year’s standout album, IVORY.
