Dave Links up With French Rapper Tiakola for Double-Drop "Meridian/Special"
Following Dave’s record-breaking 10-week stint at number one in the UK charts.
Following the release of his joint four-track EP with Central Cee, Streatham-raised rap star Dave has been on a roll. Planting his feet firmly on the number one spot in the UK charts with “Sprinter,” Santan is now back with another collaborative project — this time linking up with French rapper Tiakola for two new singles, “Meridian” and “Special.”
The two tracks see the duo exchange verses back and forth in English, French, and Yoruba, a language spoken in West African countries such as Nigeria, the Benin Republic, and parts of Togo and Sierra Leone. Additionally, the lead single, “Meridian” is joined by some accompanying visuals shot in Paris, London, and New York.
As a whole, “Meridian” shows Dave’s musical growth. For example, the rapper is seen delivering his intricate rhymes in the latter half of the record, while the remainder of the song sees him lay a collection of smooth melodies over an afrobeat-tinged backdrop. For his lyrical counterpart, Tiakola also presents his talents on the big stage, providing a slew of silky-smooth lines that delve into French culture and his current love affairs.
