Arsenal Explores Its Archives for Clean-Cut 23/24 Third Kit

Taking inspiration from one of The Gunners’ retro designs from the 1980s.

Arsenal Football Club and adidas have just presented their new third kit for the 2023/24 season and it takes inspiration from one of The Gunners’ retro designs from the 1982/83 season.

Designed with a “Mineral Green” base with navy shoulders and an off-white crest and sponsor logo, Arsenal and adidas have attempted to reinvent a cult classic fit for the present day. Releasing as a celebration of one of the club’s most famous jerseys, this new iteration of the design expresses itself through a minimalistic approach while delivering a clean-cut aesthetic that’s fit for life both on the pitch and in the terraces.

Much like the vast majority of adidas’ kits this season, Arsenal’s latest addition to its kit collection this campaign has been constructed with HEAT.RDY technology, optimized to keep players feeling comfortable when performing on the biggest stage. The replica version of the kit, however, has been hit with AEROREADY technology, which uses sweat-wicking or absorbent materials to keep players feeling dry.

Commenting on the release of the new third kit, Inigo Turner, Design Director for Football Apparel at adidas said: “Given the depth of Arsenal’s kit archive, looking to the past is always an inspiring place to start when designing something for the supporters of today. The iconic green away shirt from the 1982/83 season was a one-off and this modern-day expression of this classic blends fashion and football seamlessly.

“As these worlds continue to collide, we’ve looked to create a kit that is, first and foremost, primed for performance offering the best for the athlete, while also being an eye-catching fashion statement that supporters are proud to wear at matches and away from the stadium.”
