YUME YUME Plays With Silhouettes for Debut RTW Collection
Proving that the brand can do more than footwear.
The Amsterdam-based footwear label YUME YUME has become known for its awe-inspiring contemporary footwear designs that are inspired by Japanese culture. But now the budding label is proving that its skills move beyond just footwear with the unveiling of its debut ready-to-wear collection.
Entitled “Dramatic Poetry” the Fall/Winter 2023 collection plays with silhouettes and sculpture – a testament to its philosophy on form. The eight collection looks arrive through a cropped structured blazer, elongated overcoats with cinched arm detailing and body ruffles, backless mushroom dressed, cacoon-like coats, stringed tops, oversized tops, straight-fit pants with scrunched detailing and all-in-one pants with fisherman boots. Appearing in shades of black and pewter, the collection is built upon vegan leather fabrics for a puffed, yet contemporary touch.
“With YUME YUME we started with footwear and now stepping into ready-to-wear to ultimately offer full looks. It is a direct translation of the brand’s core. The DNA is visible and recognizable,” said Eva Korsten, co-founder and creative director. “We use our key features as puffiness and vegan leather materials as our foundation of the collection. The Fall/Winter 2023 season is a starting point, the base. From here we will build and explore different perspectives every season.”
